Today, for Tough Times Tuesday, we look at the latest valiant bit of reporting on Big Business emissions from The Guardian, and put it in conversation with the last two decades of reporting trying to sound the alarm in a way that might actually yield meaningful change. We keep saying that change has to happen "now"... but when it doesn't (and it won't), we need to be pragmatic. Our fight will be lifelong.

@MLClark This piece, now I think for a moment makes me think of that joke where my dad tells the pious guy "I sent you 2 boats and a helicopter!"
I have a subscriber who keeps rapping my knuckles for ending pieces with a whisper of hopium/copium. I really hope this piece appeases him, because I'm definitely not naive when it comes to how much we're royally screwed by our inability to surmount tribalism long enough to change our civilization's OS.
I just also know we have to keep trying, even if the ship *is* going down. Too many fellow sentients need to know they're not alone, and to be uplifted as much as we still can.
Coming from someone whose work every day keeps hope alive for so many young people growing into a world so much lesser than the one they deserve, that means a lot.
Thank you for your presence, Laurel - not just with my writing, but in general. With everyone. Your communities are so very fortunate to have you in them.
I'm glad I was able to write something that leaves others feeling supported in the middle of the hard, unending work of change that they already do. π
@LaurelGreen @MLClark There are just some people I feel _privileged_ to encounter.
