Off to work at the mall until Colombia faces off with Argentina. Here's a little taste of the conversation happening locally: some people think that the officials are already in the pocket for Argentina, while others are filled with pride for how far #Colombia has come and are widely stressing the importance of "losing with dignity" if the game doesn't work out in the team's favour.
I hope everyone has a really fun match. No ugliness! Just good clean #Sportsball. π #Copa
I'm just happy for the local vendors, to be honest. Whenever a country like Colombia has a good run in sportsball, there's a direct uptick in socioeconomic prosperity.
In the more developed world, money for these events tends to flow to corporations, but in the developing world, a team doing well also means more money for street sellers--and conversely, a team not making it means fewer chances to spread the wealth.
(π Always thinking like a darned humanist. Goooo #sportsball game!)
@MLClark
I never thought of that. Thanks for the perspective.
Good thoughts!
