I watched an old episode of Call the Midwife today, and I had a good chuckle at how freaking grim this deceptively gentle production gets. It's generally sweet, because everyone's more or less striving to do the best they can in hard circumstances, but the episode in question had this hardluck story about four children put through horrific neglect... then saved! But as a throwaway closer, the narrator informs us they were sent to Australia, where they would be horribly abused again. THE END. 🙃
"but I'm going to work on my own corner"
And you do, in ever so many ways. 🫂
@MLClark @Novels56 Orwell famously said
"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever:
Mankind seems to excel at multiplying upon miseries, but far from that being a reason to despair, I see it as an impetus to be a caveat.
I am a sapient that is resolved to buck that trend.
I can't do much about all of it, like the deportations and stuff, but I'm going to work on my own corner by the Gods.
