Well, I might be screwed for a bit. I have spilled a drink on my laptop, which now won't turn on. This is bad because everything is very precariously held together in my life by my laptop. It's Sunday, so I can't even access tools to remove the battery for another few hours. Getting the money to replace said laptop will be tricky, so...
I'm going to be behind my time for a while.
This has been a really rough year, but this latest stupid is all on me.
Phone call to my bank now.
Fingers crossed.

Depending on what and how much you spilled, that could take days to dry, and might still leave residue that could cause things to short out.
If there is a PC repair place you trust, that might be the best course.
The chances are probably good that the hard drive can at least be accessed and copied.
That's exactly it, Ceorl. I'm waiting for a tech outlet to open, so they can clean the parts with isopropyl alcohol. I don't have the right tool to open the laptop itself, so it's on its side for drainage.
The tricky part is that I do not have much in my local account right now, and my Canadian cards don't work well at local outlets. First, I need to start a global money transfer, but for *that*, I need my π¨π¦n security contact to wake up (my international # doesn't cut it). π€π» Fun day!

As good a way of knowing I'm still here as any, I guess! Thank you for the sound counsel. The laptop was on at the time, so an irreparable short is still very much possible. Covering all bases by working on the banking issue while waiting for the 11am Sunday start for this tech kiosk.
Have a lovely morning yourself! :)
