Morning, CoSo.
I have a news brief for folks who want to rage at the world being *differently* awful.
We've long known that bans on legal abortion don't reduce abortion rates. They only increase suffering: higher maternal mortality rates, and lower quality healthcare all around.
Meanwhile, there *are* things one can do if one is genuinely "pro-life" - like push for climate change action to improve fetal outcomes. (Not holding my breath, though...)

100%. The hypocrisy is infuriating. Even in the wake of this latest data by two reporting agencies (one in September, one this month confirming), plenty of lawmakers are just seeing this situation as requiring greater "enforcement": monitoring people trying to leave the state, blocking their mail, upping threats of legal consequences, and sanctioning healthcare facilities into nonexistence.
Rough times in the US. So much energy dedicated to making life worse for fellow human beings.
@MLClark the scary part for me is that the Supreme Court might allow States to prosecute actions taken beyond their borders. It’s insane to think that going to another state to do something legal in THAT state can lead to punishment. If this is allowed we are all truly screwed.
