CoSo!
What're you jamming to right now?
It's a muggy night with a nice breeze and a quiet highway.
I have one last editing task before bed, but I'd love to pop on some tunes while I work.
No specific recs needed. Just--
What's playing on your end?
Glorious start. Exactly the right mood for the end of an EFF IT day. :) Hope it helps clear the rotten vibes.
@MLClark Ohh they will, they ALWAYS do.
Alicia Keys, her diary album
and that sounds like a very pleasant drive! @MLClark
A quality choice! It's really nice to listen to something you know the artist put their heart into.
@MLClark little bit of tinnitus from the work day sadly 😅
@MLClark lots of Grateful Dead. That's my go-to on so many occasions. Their music always speaks to me in a such a special way. i love Michael Franti, the Clash, the Indigo Girls, Blackberry Smoke, Billy Strings, Doc Watson, Johnny Cash, so many others, but somehow the Dead is ALWAYS my foremost comfort music
The Grateful Dead is VERY good for most occasions. I don't doubt they'll serve you just fine tonight. :)
@MLClark
I highly recommend:
-Tori Nance, Vampire EP
- tedious & Brief, “Chicago/Handshake” single
- Ratboys, “The Window” LP
Oh, you've got your finger on the pulse of some very, very good stuff. Really lovely trio.
@MLClark I reposted to The Kinks Something Else. It’s very post-Pet Sounds/Pre-Sgt. Pepper. I hear its echoes in XTC and others. Of course there’s’Waterloo Sunset’, but check out ‘David Watts’.

How about you?
That's a REALLY good way of situating that album. It's amazing how much easier it is to trace the musical conversation in eras like theirs, eh? Much harder with the sheer volume of material today.
Oh, that is beautiful. What a voice! Thank you for sharing.
Also, do you know if it's based on a fable? My Japanese is atrociously rusty, but after listening twice the story seemed to be allusive, referencing something that might have a classic folktale attached? The use of the masculine I isn't definitive, but... it could be referring to a male character and their secret adventure in another realm? Or am I way off?
Got me. There's a line about "an old story my grandmother told me", but I can't get anything like a plot out of it.
@MLClark Low.
The king needs no more than a word to introduce himself to the conversation, eh? ;)
Splendid choice.
@MLClark This one kind of recharges me...

@MLClark Thunder and rain from outside storm. 🤣
Sweet dreams!✨
@MLClark A friend of mine from high school bought/sent me a Tangerine Dream CD, Underwater Sunlight because I'm facing a couple of hard anniversaries right now. It's very relaxing.
🫂 Longer response forthcoming later today, but I wanted to affirm that I'd seen this and that it is so so good to hear from you. Be good to yourself, my friend.
@MLClark For various reasons, I haven't been all that verbose on social media (or any other media) lately, but I am here and reading. I know you're going through some difficult times yourself, with tragedy within your circle, so please be good to yourself too.
@MLClark Concept album based on the Don Rosa Scrooge McDuck comic: https://open.spotify.com/album/2m5bKF63MKWcUfWvaRpKHZ
Ooooh! I look forward to giving that a listen when I get home. Thank you, Jake.
Always lovely to see your name pop up. How are you? I hope everything's going well on your end, and you're being good to yourself (and Ursula!) either way. 🤗
@MLClark Doing well! I had a vacation so I wasn't online much, but now I'm back.
The cat is thriving. She caught a spider and a centipede the other day. Proud of her. 😆
This album is fun. The artist is a member of Nightwish, a symphonic metal band I've been listening to since highschool (I have lost all perspective on their quality because of this nostalgia bias). He's got these weird side project that I really enjoy, including Auri, which is inspired by the Name of the Wind.
@MLClark It's been a day, so the After Hour Animals are here to stay tonight.
