Morning and happy new month, CoSo!
Who has goals on the go?
This is Day 1 of a new schedule, and I'm sequestering myself in my apartment for the next three days at least to get my routines for it sorted out. (With a stationary bike - it'll be like lockdown again).
Yesterday I tripped into two new students just by going to the store - and while that'll be good for the budget, I really need to focus on finishing a few projects. No new ones!

Sadly they didn't want last month's. Not sure how they'll feel about this month's but the inspiration is the inspiration.
There are always a lot of submissions, but there's still something to be said about getting the juices flowing and fleshing out one's portfolio of writing for submission to other places, too. Well done!

@MLClark @JakeA My creativity seems to be at a low ebb at the moment, although I did write another ghazal I'm happy with a couple of weeks ago. A lot of my August will be spent cleaning the house because a very dear friend will be visiting in September and I don't want to gross her out unduly. I do find I sometimes think of good lines while I'm cleaning, so it may be good for my creative life. We'll see.
@stephen_a_allen @MLClark It's nice when being social and being creative feed into each other. Glad to hear you're making progress on your poetry! :)
Oh, I do hope the cleaning process is creatively rewarding - but even if it doesn't quite yield as many new lines as you'd like, hey! You'll still have space for a lovely visitor at the end. How wonderful. I hope it's a most rewarding visit for you both.
(And huzzah for another ghazal! Those are daunting feats to be sure.)
@MLClark @stephen_a_allen I've been a bit stuck lately. Can't decide the direction I want this time travel story to go. It's a multiverse story disguised as a time travel story because I don't like the current buzz around the multiverse (cuz it's all really just a narrative excuse to cram existing IPs into more marketable products and doesn't even make the most of the concept). But I've hit a snag in the forward momentum of the story, so I may have to just power through without thinking.

Seriously, though - sometimes being able to name the problem has to be victory enough. Glad you're sticking with this piece; it's clear that it has meaning to you, and some terrific things can come out of the work to which we feel most connected.

@MLClark I could do the Nanowrimo think in college, and while it was always an interesting exercise, I never wrote anything I'm really proud of. But the short stories I wrote for creative writing classes I still think of fondly, even if they don't have a place *out there* in the world.
I'll let you know if I have success harnessing the power of nonthinkiness. The dinosaurs in the story should help. 🙃
