Rattle has a Poets Respond feature, in which people submit poems based on the news of the week and the best / most resonant is published each Sunday.
This week there was one on Cormac McCarthy's death. It's a lovely, unexpected blending of his work with the stories told in children's books - because all good literature is universal, right?

Oh, what a wonderful conversation! I'm so glad the piece created such a lovely moment. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
@MLClark
I really enjoyed this poem and the author’s comments afterward.
I read the commentary out loud to my adult daughter because I thought she might relate to someone reading the hungry caterpillar 5000 times (she has a 1.5 year old). She said “yes I can relate to that but how does Eric Carle intersect with Cormac McCarthy?” So I read the poem out to her and we had quite a thoughtful discussion about it. ❤️ Thanks for posting!
