There is a teenager's birthday party in the common area in my building complex, so... while the reggaeton is blasting (), I'll be watching an episode of TV. Then back to work. But I simply cannot write while listening to music with lyrics - or even instrumental versions of songs to which I know the lyrics! - so if you ever needed to know my Kryptonite, you're welcome: this is it.

🙃 We writers are a weird breed, no?

@MLClark

Thank GOD Reggaetón seems to have somewhat gone out of style here in Peru.
I can't read with any music on and I read a lot, I'm a musician and I start analyzing any music I hear whether I like it or not, my mind just goes to it. And sometimes the less I like something the more I can't ignore it, speaking of Reggaetón. 🤣

@Charles_Hawtrey Oh my goodness yes. I'm glad I'm not the only one, but that sounds especially challenging as a musician. I can't listen to string pieces when reading; violin and cello in particular move me too deeply to pay attention to words on the page, so I stick to background rainstorms to tune out other distractions instead. One beautiful work of art at a time, eh?

(Or, well, one "work" at a time, at least.)
