David Davis, Writer-Producer on ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show,’ ‘Rhoda,’ ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ and ‘Taxi,’ Dies at 86
(He leaves behind) his wife, actress Julie Kavner, best known as the voice of Marge Simpson on The Simpsons. Davis recommended her for the part of Brenda Morgenstern, Valerie Harper‘s insecure sister on Rhoda — it was her first paying job as an actress — and they were together since 1976.

@BillyBones I do the same! I rarely watch new shows. MeTV and Decades and all that. Those shows are dear to my heart and as you said nobody makes TV like that now. My kids know more about those shows than anything current ❤️
@M00dyBlue Same here too! (Well, my 15yo daughter finds most of them boring except for The Addams Family and old Twilight Zones) but I'm absolutely with you. And late at night my wife & I usually watch either Columbo or The Rockford Files ❤️

@M00dyBlue I've rewatched every episode of Taxi (and Cheers) multiple times over the last few years thanks to streaming TV. I used to watch the occasional Bob Newhart show with my late Grandad when I was a little boy and started that one just a couple of weeks ago.
Davis was a true talent, and I know it's often said, but honestly nobody makes TV like that any more. 💔
