The US could use some intensive de-Nazification education like Western Germans all received after WWII.
West Germans were all taught about the atrocities, pogroms, persecution and the holocaust from the time they are very young (and then they go home and accuse their grandparents of atrocities lol).
I guess Republicans would oppose that sort of thing these days and call it "Critical Race theory), but what it was a horror show not too unlike Nazism. We need to shit-can that.
My response to kooks who drink raw milk and eat raw meats is simply this:
You do you. My schedule is way too busy for me to be getting sick all of the time, so I don't do that.
In fact, when I buy milk, I get that Horizon ultra-pasteurized milk not just because I am even more sure all the harmful bacteria are dead when I buy it, but also because that stuff lasts forever. I bought a half-gallon yesterday, and the expiration date is 10-20-2024. It ain't going bad until the 3rd week of October
On far-right elections in German state of Thuringia.
As you might know, I spent some time in Germany in the mid 1990s after re-unification, and even then folks in Bavaria worried about former East German states (which Thuringia largely is), and referred to them as having many Nazis,
Talking to German friends, they are worried about what they are calling the rise of former-East German fascists.
One of the most underrated science fiction movies of the last 2+ decades (1997).
Starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, with supporting roles by Gore Vidal, Earnest Borgnine
There are no amazing computer graphics, no monsters, no travel to planets outside of our galaxy.
Rather it's about a future where genetic engineering has allowed parents to select the best traits for their child during a new pregnancy. It's about misconceptions of "fittest", prejudice, and resilience

Russian artillery shelled central part of Kherson about an hour-and-a-half ago.
I get so tired of people ranting about how much more military aid Ukraine needs,
We know they need more--their military told our military who then told the administration who asked congress for the funding if we could even produce the quantity they are asking for, and if not, we're expanding our production capability.
Short of funding/production capacity, we just can't wish it so.
All online bitching and finger pointing does is disincline Ukraine's supporters to be so generous.
One thing about what is happening within the last day: Ukraine needs a bigger air force and more anti-aircraft SAMs.
On the former, it took us and the Dutch a year to train 12 pilots, the ground crew to support 12 aircraft, and one of those aircraft was already shot down. Russia has about 200 aircraft. See the problem?
There are also supply constraints and funding issues getting more surface to air missiles for HIMAR and Patriot systems.
