So your rating?
Yeah, coil-splitting on 4-wire pickups produces modest results, and if I remember correctly, PRS does coil-splitting with 3 wires which confused the hell out of me.
Trying to keep your shit together in a Presidential election year with one candidate being Donald Trump?
I totally get that. At the end of the day, all you can do is vote and encourage other sane people to vote. Also contribute what you can afford to your prefered candidate.
The rest is out of your hands unless you got an Elon-sized bag of money.
@dauphin87 why is it painful?
@dauphin87 You need to get up and move around every once in a while. lol
Rabbit Hole #2: Make my own pickups. About $500 for an automatic hand winding station.
Why?
One way to make single-coils hum cancelling is to wind one pickup clockwise with South Poles up,
Then another with North poles up counter-clockwide.
When they are combined, hum is cancelled. Stacked noiseless do this.
But what if you wound 1/2 of a pickup South poles up clockwise, and the other half North poles up counter-clockwise? Also hum-cancelling, but with a more purist tone.
I went down a rabbit hole when I discovered Obsidian Wire mods.
They involve all the normal parts: capacitors, resistors, push-pull pots, 5 way switches, capacitors, but...
the ingenious thing they have done is create a PCB to mount these things (via ribbon for the 5-way) and put these spring clamps--like you use when breadboarding circuits,--on the PCB, so all you need to do to install new pickups is insert the wires in the spring clamp.

I've read they're made in China and Indonesia and sold at a ridiculous markup.
Let me know what you think..
