Monty Python's "Life of Brian" was released 45 years ago today.

@AskTheDevil

The Film was financed by George Harrison. & Dennis O'Brian. Sadly both of them have died.

Graham Chapman died in 1989, and all the actors still living are in their 80s, so I expect no sequel.

@Lulz4l1f3 I would _hope_ nobody would try to do a sequel! But there's always the concern that some executive will decide to perform necromancy on some property that was already done properly and doesn't need to be exhumed.

@AskTheDevil

Nobody wanted to touch it in the first place. EMI was a hard pass. That's why George Harrison and his buddy wound up being producers.

Studios are hesitant to touch critical (or in this case satiric) religious subjects least there be a backlash.

@Lulz4l1f3 I know! Which is almost silly when you think of it, when you consider it is free advertising.

I watched Passion of the Christ because of the furor. I had to push past protesters to see it, and the theatre was packed.

And the movie was so artsy-fartsy and boring, I am certain if it weren't for the protesters, almost nobody would have watched it.

People fire-bombed some theaters, and even burned down video stores when it came out on VHS.

Peter Gabriel did the soundtrack to that movie.
