We have our own rack now in The Maritime Market on Bald Head Island!

I made it to Bald Head Island yesterday morning (I drove through the night after baking all day) with 18 pies and 34 cakes. I’m TIRED, but I’m dragging myself back to the market to do the sales thing today. Pictures forthcoming.

Of course, our big opening weekend of the year at the grocery store on Bald Head is plagued by gale force winds. 😩 I’ll have to leave at 2am to try to get there in time for the first barge, in the hopes I miss the worst of the winds. Mom and I have been baking like crazy, and I spent every penny I have to buy all the stuff we needed to fill this big order.

My legs are swollen and my hips are sore, but today is the last day to get baking done before tomorrow morning. We deliver the biggest order we can to the grocery store on Bald Head Island. What I will get done today for sure: 4 cakes, 10 pies. The goal is 4 cakes and 20 pies. We’ll see how much I get done.

It’s time to stop procrastinating for the day. 😬

I am so excited to sleep in tomorrow!!!

What this means is that early in the morning some landscaper will blow a leaf blower under my window, or “the doofus” (a grown man idiot neighbor) will play his “jams”, or some religious nuts will knock on the door, etc.

A girl can dream. 😩

This is the Swiss rum buttercream icing I made today for our coconut cakes. I’ve lost my jam mojo, but I got this batch to work well enough. You have to be looking for the flaw to notice it. Once I get my mojo back, I’ll have to never go long periods of time again without making it! It’s so finicky!!
