Patient, plodding, a green skin
growing over whatever winter did to us, a return
to the strange idea of continuous living despite
the mess of us, the hurt, the empty. Fine then,
I’ll take it, the tree seems to say, a new slick leaf
unfurling like a fist to an open palm, I’ll take it all.

Ada Limon
@Museek She’s brilliant, and a beautiful human. She’s also a lot tougher than she appears! She was one of my MFA professors, and she’s the reason the thesis, and first full collection of poetry (I’m polishing it off now) is what it is. I didn’t want to tell my story in poetry, but she beat me into submission, so to speak 😂 She’s also the one who got me to really dig deep, emotionally, in my writing. I’m SO lucky to have had her as my first MFA professor and I chose her because I love her poetry
@Museek One day when it’s published I certainly will, thank you!! In fact, talking about this, and reading Ada’s poem, inspired me today. Thank you. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my bakery that I forget how important my writing is to me, and good at it I can be. Thank you for this reminder and inspiration. ❤️
