ugh. I just realized why I'm so dizzy. I haven't eaten since this morning. :facepalm:

@see_the_sus You have ADHD, don’t you 😂😂😂😂 I’ve lost count how many times I’ve done this very thing (I have it).

@LindaGoodliffe

Undiagnosed but darn near 100% certain I do. My psych said I'll need to find a neuropsych to get tested. I tried to get tested in IN but was told the wait time was almost a year.

@see_the_sus You can diagnose yourself. There’s no blood test or anything! Start with the book “Driven to Distraction” by Dr. Hallowell (sp?), then go from there. There are some good newer books out about it.

I think a telltale physical sign is that stimulants calm us down, like coffee. One time, in high school, I took a caffeine pill to try to stay up all night to write a paper, and it put me right to sleep, head on the table. Another time, school related and many years later…

@see_the_sus I drank 5 cups of coffee in succession and fell asleep.

I also get anxiety when I have a big project to start, like crippling anxiety. I’ve learned to be kind to myself, and schedule some “freak out” time, as much as I can remember. Being around other people helps a lot, especially if they’re dealing with a similar, or the same, project.

@LindaGoodliffe

I did a single-page questionnaire, given by my therapist in IN and I checked off every item. But to get medical & mental health treatment for it I have to be tested by a medical professional.

@see_the_sus Sounds like you have it.

If you can’t access the mental health help you need, then start to treat yourself by accessing information. That’s what I did, and the behavior modification things I learned in those books have helped me far more than medication did.

Granted, if I could have taken Ritalin it would have made a difference (I read SO much faster on Ritalin and my anxiety goes away), but it gives me migraines.

Behavior modification works, though!!

@see_the_sus There’s also a free support group out there. I forget what it’s called, but it helps.

@see_the_sus This might help you, classical music helps me focus. It’s like a switch in my brain is flipped when I play classical music.

@LindaGoodliffe

Coffee affects me very differently from soda caffeine and maybe it's the sugar content? Coffee in the morning does calm me down, not to the point of sleepiness but...I mean, it helps me wake up but I don't get jazzed, if that makes sense. I can drink 3-4 shots of espresso and wake up quick but still not like, "ZING! YEAH LET'S DO THIS!"
I can no longer have caffeine after 6pm though as. it does keep me awake now.
