What we're seeing first with Telegram and now Twitter in Brazil is that, increasingly, governments are beginning to turn their attention to the damage unmoderated social media does to political ecospheres. You cannot have a stable commonwealth if large portions of their populations are lost in mis- and disinformation. And yes, democratic governments have every right to stop the spread of disinformation which roils their societies, as we saw two weeks ago in England and Northern Ireland.
@LiberalLibrarian Even our not so Supreme court upheld the governments right to pressure social media companies to remove false information.
