I wouldn't have a problem with there being a party which was really for lower taxes, less regulation, small government, individual autonomy, strong defense, and what are called traditional values, if they were also strongly against corruption, racism, and bigotry in all its forms. I probably wouldn't vote for them unless the other options were far worse, but I wouldn't mind them being the alternative party.

But that's not todays R Party, and it doesn't look like it ever will be.

Today's R Party is effectively a hate group, founded on prejudice, advocating discrimination. If it were newly created it would be classified as a hate group right away. I think the only reason it isn't is because of inertia; but it's not accidental that it's magnetically attracting all of the fascists and white supremacists and antisemites to it. And that's not a party that can ever be allowed to hold power.
