@FrankCannon

This would give little budding sociopaths such delight (& violent ideas). Otoh, it could be very helpful with kids in Play Therapy.

I believe this is the photo which led to Sir Laurence asking Dustin Hoffman: "My dear boy, why don't you just try acting?"

@LiberalLibrarian He wasn't a bif fan of method actors.Famously uttered after Hoffman turned up looking rough for a scene after inflicting a weekend of not sleeping,bathing,etc,on himself to get into character.Olivier thought he was ill when he first saw him after the weekend. @ATXJane

@FrankCannon @LiberalLibrarian @ATXJane: According to the late Jon Pertwee, when Hoffman came in bedraggled, sickly, and exhausted for the first morning shoot for the torture scene, Larry asked him if he needed a doctor or something. Hoffman explained how he fucked himself up all weekend to get ready for the scene, to which Larry replied, "My dear fellow, why don't you try acting."

@thedisasterautist I classify the Method along with most varieties of deconstruction: Something with which young LL was enthralled, until I realised it was all shite. @FrankCannon @ATXJane

However you get there, it’s mesmerizing. I’d just prefer it on the screen instead of encountering it for real.
But what a great story about D Hoffman.

@LiberalLibrarian I've worked with several who prefer The Method,it's quite bizarre. @thedisasterautist @ATXJane

"method acting" seems like nothing more than an excuse to act like a total dhole on set...

daffy was method... fucking insufferable...

😜😁

@LiberalLibrarian @FrankCannon

Well there you go.
I was assisting in kindergarten & this cute little boy had been acting out in strange ways. I had discussed it at length with my friend, his teacher, & he really did sound like a young potential sociopath. He had stabbed a girl in the back w/a newly sharpened pencil & entered others’ homes w/o permission.
He walked past the desk where I was assembling materials & with big eyes said, β€œI like fire” in a surprisingly menacing voice. Chilling.

@ATXJane I've a nephew like that,horrible little shit and not much better in his 20s now. @LiberalLibrarian

@FrankCannon @LiberalLibrarian

A scary type but probably not very happy in their own skin either.

@Ironworker229 @FrankCannon @LiberalLibrarian

What was so chilling was he was serious. He was both sharing his fantasies and previewing what he planned to do.
He was such a scary child that a couple of families on his block moved. They were afraid of this kindergartner.
I hope creating preying on others was not in his future, but he certainly fit the early indicators for sociopathy.

@FrankCannon @Ironworker229 @LiberalLibrarian

Yes.
Some thought is this personality challenge is hard wired. I don’t like to think that effective treatment is out of reach, but there could be some validity to it…
When you read about the earliest years in their lives, they can relate to not feeling any empathy, being driven to manipulate others, etc. I remember the story of 1 kid who coldly made his mother cry to get his way. As a child he knew he was manipulative. Other deets I won’t share.

@ATXJane Nature v nurture.....in some extreme cases it's a result of both.End result is an absolute stinker of a person who'll either go into politics,become succesful in business or will be connected to bodies turning up in strange places. @Ironworker229 @LiberalLibrarian
