First off, put on a damned shirt, boy.

Second, when the postapocalyptic wasteland comes to fruition, I value my chances at survival over yours.

@LiberalLibrarian 😂 My mom would yell “In or out?!!” and then lock us out.

@LiberalLibrarian Husband and I laughed so hard at this one. Lost everything when she got to the Jart. 😂

@LiberalLibrarian There is no way on gods green earth most of us should be alive right now given the shit we went through growing up.

My sister and I were talking about this recently. How we’d leave the house in the morning (sometimes after breakfast -usually just cereal) and not come home (no cell phones) until sundown, sometimes later. We’d just survive the day. No one ever really worried about us. 🤷🏽‍♀️… as long as I was home in time to cook dinner if mom was working.

@TiarePalau Yup, would ride BMX all day, easily 50+ miles all around town with a few bucks in my pocket, ate road vendor hot dogs, played video games at the driving range then home hangin out in the neighborhood listen to the boombox until the street lights came on.

You just described my brothers’ days exactly…
My sister would go miles from home to ride field horses bareback w/her friends or spend the day in the city. I’d usually hitchhike to the beach and hang out all day w/friends…
Food? Fun? Safety? Survival? We were creative and just figured it out. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Now… when our kids tell us they’re bored (usually if they don’t have a device), we tell them “Good! Boredom is the mother of creativity! Figure something out.” 😁

@TiarePalau We truly lived in the sweet spot of life in my opinion. They were the good ole days

@LiberalLibrarian so much this. They don’t know that they don’t know, they don’t k wow WHAT they don’t know, all as compared with us. If I try to suggest “hey, here’s a thing you might want to know cause it’ll save you some trouble…” I get dismissed with “ok boomer”

Okay. I might watch as you find out, or (more likely) I might wander off and continue what I was doing. Don’t whine to me afterwards. the people of

@Kinniska I *loved* those books. The ones I bought were always fantasy-centered.

@LiberalLibrarian they really were hilarious in some ways. For whatever reason, I particularly enjoyed the Aztec or maya themed one. I had quite a few. No idea now where they went.

Hm. Wonder if the library has any 🤣 I may have to go on a little laugh-quest.
Current library quest: have been obtaining recos from my local librarians for titles to keep my (90 yo and mostly home bound because mobility) avid reader mom in reading material. Much laughter when I described the various overlap.

@LiberalLibrarian lol i was shot by my cousins with a bb gun... they got stabbed with tobacco stalks i think we all got stabbed by jarts lol

@LiberalLibrarian I want to punch that it's-95-degrees-out-still-wearing-a-beanie twatwaffle in the face and tell him that we had to be out of the house immediately after breakfast and had better not come back in until the street lights came on
