When did bodega cats become a thing? Because I grew up in NYC, and I sure as hell don't remember kittehs in bodegas.

NYC was having a rodent issue. Do you remember Pizza-rat?
Dept of Health changed the regs so that (a) Pet health has to be maintained. (b) pet cannot be near food. (c) there has to be someone certified in the rules of health safety on the premises when the cat is there.
