There are two possibilities for what happened to the Moskva.
1. It was hit by missiles, as Ukraine claims.
2. Its magazine exploded, as Russia claims.
My bet is on 1. But if it *was* 2, this is just further proof of what a Potemkin military Russia has. Poorly maintained equipment which is on the verge of catastrophic failure every minute.
@WanderingDabbit Exactly. Number 1 doesn't do the mighty Russian navy any favors either.
@LiberalLibrarian I would imagine that someone in the region could confirm what happened. If Ukraine fired and hit the ship I would think we would know about it.
@WanderingDabbit IIRC, the ship was some 25 miles off the coast. Thus why confirmation for what actually happened is hard to come by.
@LiberalLibrarian That makes sense. I guess I was thinking that the US probably has eyes in the skies that would see a missile going towards the ship. My money is on Ukraine sunk it.
@LiberalLibrarian My guess is 2 was caused by 1. Missile hit it, detonated the ammo supply. Seems to be how they're killing all the tanks.
Russian military hardware seems to be built with a giant glowing weak spot like in video games.
@Idle_Threat And if it was 1, then Russia's vaunted anti-missile systems aren't so vaunted.
@LiberalLibrarian Which is so, so shocking. You would not believe how shocked I am. Just mind bogglingly, unbelievably shocked that Russian military prowess might have been overstated.
Shocked.
@LiberalLibrarian neither option bodes well for π·πΊ. This was their flagship in the region and πΊπ¦ doesn't even have a navy.
