McQ will probably end up going down, and when he does, he'll take the whole House R party with him. The rifts he'll leave behind may be unmendable.

And all for what? His ego and his belief that "he deserves this." Not only has he put party before country, he's put self before party.

And the large majority of his caucus let him do it.

Republicans complaining about the "do nothing Democrat Congress" were just projecting, as always.

I wonder when the "it's rigged!" And "there were lots of illegal votes!" Claims will start.

#McCarthy's failure is not good news for us #Dems. It is evidence of how strong #MAGA maniacs are in the #GOP and how spineless the moderate #Republicans are to stop them. This is just going to get uglier & the divisiveness and bigotry of the GOP will be on full display.

My punditry: This is a disaster for the Rs. Their "mainstream" looks foolish, weak, and incompetent. The clown face of the party is on full display and looking stronger.

In a competently run party, they would have counted the votes beforehand, not winged it on the fly. If McQ didn't have the votes, he would have been replaced with someone else who did--or the rebels would have been ejected from the party.

McQ tried to please everyone and ended up pleasing no one.
