@LiberalEffects Despite Baradar currently being a central figure in the Taliban, it is not yet known how he will (if ever) form a government, nor is it obvious who would be a possible “president” (of his so-called government) or similar figure. Ergo this is low-hanging fruit for the then trump administration. Easy pickings to make America think he (trump) is 'all that'!
