There is a bakery here in Seoul with USA-themed baked goods named after various states.

Quickly reminding myself that a Puddle Jumper is a pair of boots (in parts of the world) and not a small plane (as it is in other parts of the world) and someone is not on the neighborhood chat asking to borrow a plane this afternoon.

(this is not Alaska)

I write books, and some of them have fankits! A reader contacted me today to say she'd gotten the ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A GARGOYLE fankit that has a bowl of ramen.

If you know, you know. ;)

News Headlines: This is a record breaking heatwave!

Neighbors: This is the worst weather! I'm dying!

Me: *\o/* I love this weather!

Neighbors: 0.o What is wrong with you?

Me: ... some like it hot?

Controversial Opinion:

I think "Tweet" should just mean "short form communication on social media" because I don't want a new word for each platform.

Dumpster started as a brand name, why can't Tweet?

The 10% mark of the book is 11,000 words...

... I admit my math skills are not the best in the world, but if I'm aiming for a 75,000 word book shouldn't my word count at the 10% mark in the plot line be a lot closer to 7,500?

The current tropes are:

- reluctant hero

- fake identity

- refusal of the call

- Know It All doesn't know it all

- Lady Hero

- Enemies (sort of?) to Lovers

What am I writing?

Something new for my agent to shop. It's a stand alone novel that will be under 100,000 words (or else). My goal is to have a first draft that ends around the 75,000 word mark because I'll probably add details in edits.

I'm writing a character that makes Merry and Pippin well-prepared for their adventures in LORD OF THE RINGS. She's good at reading books and she once took a candle making class!

And now she's stuck in the middle of adventure she does not want.

Tim Walz is the guy who mows your lawn when you break your leg. JD Vance is the guy who reports your overgrown lawn to the HOA.

Alas and alack. I wanted cookies but my faithful stand mixer that has gone globe-trotting with me since 2014 died today. Dramatically, too. The glass mixing bowl cracked and is fused to the mixer stand.

The random little new book is coming along nicely and right on target to be a 75,000 word novel.

Please, everyone, send flowers to my lit agent. She is going to be so happy to hear I'm writing something under 100k. This is going to make her week.

She took a step forward. "Are you going to stay under the mistletoe?"

"I don't know. Will you climb me like a tree if I do?"

Another step. "Do you want to be climbed like a tree? I might wind up being somewhat hemiparasitic myself. What if I don't want to climb off you later?"

"Don't threaten me with a good time, Sunshine."

Somehow I made it through an hour in the room with possibly the two most beautiful women alive, getting inside information about some of the sexiest men I could name, and I didn’t die of sheer bi-overload and joy.

Coming December 2nd!

Family: When are you moving back to the states?

Me *busily working on getting more work in Korea*: Um....

Family: Next year, maybe?

Me *looking at multi-year work contract*: I mean, we'll be visiting next year, yes.

Family: But where are you buying a house?

Me *looking at house on Jeju Island*

I'm going to go spend an hour or so reading for an editing client. I do have spots for new editing clients available in September and early October, as well as February of 2025.

If you're interested in working with me, please let me know.

Late to the party, but watching because I need a break from reality. It's a zombie film from Korea.

"Professional Authors write every day!"

I've been actively part of publishing since 2009. My last book came out in February, the next comes out in December, I have another scheduled for release Summer of 2025. I have an agent. I'm a fully professional author.

I don't write every day.

Do I want a 2-day vacation with my hubby for my birthday or a party with my friends? Because of time constraints and scheduling I probably can't do both.
