#devilstorytime It is frustrating to see so many people who claim to be followers of my darling baby brother, but they preach hate where he preached love, cruelty where he taught kindness and forgiveness, and division, and bigotry when he said to love your neighbor.
@AskTheDevil I once mentioned Christian extremists on social media and was pelted with comments like 'yeah, who wants all that extreme love and compassion eh?' Because they honestly see themselves as loving, kind, compassionate, forgiving and devoted to God. That's what happens when you live in a bubble, when you never look at yourself from the outside

@LadyT Yup. Often a mixture of lying to others, lying to themselves, and circular reasoning.
@LadyT And some of these people have been taught, or developed the idea, that they are "being cruel to be kind". That they're saving our souls by mortifying our body.
They don't admit when they enjoy hurting others necessarily. But as long as they can claim they're actually being helpful, they believe that counts as much as actual compassion.
