From Admiral James Stavridis, USN, Ret.
I commanded dozens of major bases in Europe for 4 years as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO & Commander, US European Command. We had plenty of scares, but nothing that required this level of alert. Clearly there is a deep concern and that is consistent with everything I can see.
From retired commander Mark Hertling:
Many who closely monitor these “triggers” are seeing the same thing, boss (@stavridisj). Not just to disrupt elections but also to stoke the current divisiveness that is increasing.
Admiral James Stavridis, USN, Ret.@stavridisj
All of my signals are blinking red in terms of the potential for a terrorist attack against American interests in the U.S. or abroad in the next few months. The chance to disrupt the US election may be irresistible to our enemies.

@POOetryma There is a 60-min interview where Espers confirmed that. Look up David Leavitt on Twitter.
There is a 60-minute interview with Esper that he confirmed this.
I can't copy the link for some reason. Look up David Leavitt on tweeter.
Donald Trump’s former Sec. Def. Mark Esper: “[Trump] was suggesting that...we should bring in the troops and shoot the protesters.”
Q: “The commander-in-chief was suggesting that the U.S. military shoot protesters?”
Esper: “Yes, in the streets of our nation’s capital.”
@InUnfunky I kind of thought srael's supreme court ruling about ultra-Orthodox Jewish seminary students may be drafted for military service would bring about a faster ceasefire.
@NaomiSkarzinski @DavidSalo Biden reminded us ‘the power is with the people’.
@AnneW A JAG responded to Hertling’s question:
‘ The commander can and must refuse it. It’s still illegal for the commander even if the president is immune from prosecution for it. But, the commander doesn’t have to because that person can be pardoned if they go ahead. Or, they can be replaced with someone who will do it. This will wreak havoc with the good order and discipline in every unit across the globe.’
Military factions can result …
@AnneW I meant the Team 6 example was a way to warn Americans the ruling’s implication for coup plotters to gain military support.
@Anouk I am a 60-year-old childless naturalized citizen. I feel way too many Americans take democracy for granted. 1/3 routinely don’t vote, especially the younger generations. I worry this maybe catching up with us. The younger ones will live with the consequences longer.
@SandHillThicket Sotomayor’s dissent opinion is more like a house-on-fire alarm. That Seal Team 6 example was to make it plain for ordinary Americans.
Mark Hearling, a retired army commender just posed a question: "As a former military guy, I’m trying to figure out how a commander can refuse an illegal order from someone who is issuing it as an official act."
It makes me wonder if SC's immunity ruling was a way to paving the way to undo the military's allegiance to the constitution? All dictatorships need the military to stay in power.
