So baseball seems to be taking a knee for opening day.
*Braces for impact*
On the plus side, anyone that all of a sudden decides they can do without baseball after pining (ha!) for it since April no at least has a head start on no longer watching it.
I do not care and not sure I ever will care about any of their political or social idealogies. I care if my team wins. That's it. I hate the good teams and the good players that they play against that crush my soul with a walk off hit.
(King) Felix Hernandez has joined David Price as probably one of the bigger names to opt out of this season. I still half expect Gerritt Cole to since he JUST became a dad.
However, I'm fully on board with treating a winning season in 2020 like any other because I know other fans, teams, writers, and the league will. So...why not us? Sorry you didn't have a complete team this year. Blame the commissioner for forcing a season.
We've got voice over actors stepping down from jobs because they aren't the same race as their character.
Then the next day Jason Mamoa is announced as the voice for Frosty the Snowman and Hamilton arrives on D+ where Lin Manuel is Alexander Hamilton.
I don't disagree with the sentiments, trying to put everything on an even playing field.
Jenna Marbles takes a YouTube hiatus because some people found some of her old content offensive.
Jenna Marbles of all people. A bastion of humor a positivity.
At some point, you have to think cancel culture becomes vengeful. "You took down something I like/you promote something I don't like (they promoted BLM), I'm going to make you/something you like go away.
This is dumb.
I would like an app that hides other apps and their notifications on my phone for a set amount of time. Both icon and notifications. This isn't just "haha, I downloaded pornhub and don't want anyone to know", it's "I want to be able to avoid social media in an out of sight/out of mind way, but still have my phone on me." I don't have to remove the app because it would require re-signing in.
Dear MLB Owners:
Whatever support you had from anyone before- outside of gladhanding yesmen -are gone.
I hope a grievance is filed and you lose money over this. We all know you can afford it...you just don't want to.
Neither the players you pay, nor the fans that bring you your precious profits deserve this.
The great work that I have seen the Omaha Police department do over the years towards community relations, condemning other police forces for their stupidity, and being able to say other departments are jealous of their relationship with their city is about to all be washed away.
It doesn't matter if you agree with with it or not, this will not be good for anyone and Omaha will descend into hell tonight.
Might just cross out names or write in "neither" on the ballot this November. On one hand, I have people who haven't done anything in office except for waste time and fail, on the other I have folks now pandering to the rioters.
And yes, in my area, there is most certainly a difference between the protestors and the rioters....even if the rioters are actually by the govt buildings the protestors should be at.
And topping the day off with watching the local protriots. Riotests? Whatever you call this.
I've lived on Omaha for nearly a decade and this is the worst I've seen it. Usually very quiet. Had some in response to Ferguson, but this is way worse. Don't know if it's more people, but there is absolutely more damage. I don't think there were broken windows here last time.
Movie fan. Mets fan. I like to travel. Once scored a goal against a Jamaican soccer team in Cuba.
