sadly that is the law.
By law that is $1000 per offense. 5 offenses. If the Judge fined Trump more it would be overturned on appeal for violation of the law, and he would be fined NOTHING.
But, issuing a fine is a pretty good warning that the next time he does it, it means jail
And after Trump was fined he stopped attacking the clerk.. so in a way it worked.
WHY ISN"T TRUMP BEING PUNISHED FOR VIOLATING GAG ORDER?

well, NY law says $1000 fine or jail. That's it. Please cite an example where a person was jailed for contempt of violating a gag order during a trial and we can see if it fits

because of Trumps violations of the gag order, His defense team will not get the courtesy of knowing the order of the witnesses prosecution is bringing to Trial
A good cross-examination functions as testimony by the defense counsel, interspersed with questions like, "isn't that true?"
Defense counsel must have documents/transcripts ready to control witness if they quibble on any point.
