Albuquerque, NM, has become the largest U.S. city to permanently make public transportation free for everyone. The city found that fares didn’t cover the administrative fees, so they actually save money by making public transportation free.
TBH, the cost for security and administration costs to collect fees makes fee's pointless
@peeppeepcircus Just imagine the cost savings in NY MTA if they didn't have to bother with turnstiles or NYPD holding up walls as well as people processing payments.
Wish they would do this everywhere.
It will help a lot of people financially and take cars off the road.
