@th3j35t3r You might be on to something. I was a smoker from 17, went up during 40 years on to a sometimes 4-pack (20s) a day smoker. When I stopped it wasn't because of health, nor the increasing difficulty of smoking where you want --- they started to up the taxes on cigarettes every annual Budget. That did it for me... finally stopped

Another option: Treat gun ownership and use like a pilot certificate.

1. Hours of training followed by a written, oral, and practical exam demonstrating your knowledge and capability.

2. Initial certificate is for small caliber weapon. Any increase in caliber requires additional training.

3. Certificate is for one category only: Handgun, rifle, or shotgun. To have more than one category requires additional training.
