@Victor I would say it's a little of both. People want to dress nicely at an event because they want to look good to themselves and others but also if they dress inappropriately they will stand out and some people may enjoy that but I don't think most do.

@mcfate Biden knows that in a Presidential race where the popular vote doesn't matter and elections are won by a few swing states that he has to wear a suit whether he wants to or not. If he starts showing up the way Fetterman is dressing we may see Trump back in the White House and thar would be a disaster

@mcfate Glad he won but Fetterman also doesn't face the voters again until 2028 when he may not even run. But if dressing in shorts at press conferences, white house functions etc doesn't matter than it would be okay for Biden who is running in 2024 to do it too but he's wearing a suit and tie.

@Victor Agree that a suit doesn't necessarily convey trust. Trump wears a suit and there is no more untrustworthy person on the planet. But dressing appropriately for an event is something people do pay attention to. A job interview or how someone shows up at a family member's wedding. If everyone at the wedding is super casual than fine but if they all dress nice to show respect to the happy couple then to come in a t-shirt and shorts is selfish.

@TheLegend_AZ Agree and I submit ithat n a close race how you dress can cost you some votes and it may be enough to swing the election in your opponent's direction.

@Avalea I rarely leave the house so no need for pantyhose but I am overweight and not young so you would not see me in shorts once I am outside.

@Gladari Zelensky is fighting for his country so his army dress is very appropriate wherever he wants to wear it. I learned in school too that bullies pick on kids regardless but still you want to dress nicely and appropriately for yourself and I say this as someone who isn't the best dresser but I would like to do better.

If professional dress doesn't matter why can't Biden dress in shorts and a hoodie or go the office in pajamas. He can do it of course but the voters will believe it's their business and its not going to be a pretty situation on election day.

Senator John Fetterman giving a speech with Biden and he is once again wearing a hoodie and shorts. I am glad Fetterman won his race. But what is he trying to prove dressing this way?

Some say how Fetterman dresses is irrelevant.. It's his policies that matter. True but there is such a thing as respecting the office by dressing professionally. And how one dresses is the kind of thing many voters will take into consideration when he runs for reelection.

Nomadland by Jessica Bruder is a book that is going to be around for years to come. The author did an excellent job of writing and reporting. Also the subject matter, how hard it is for the elderly and really most people in the US to survive on salaries that are not keeping up with the rising cost of rent, is not going away anytime soon.

This year summer runs from Wed, Jun 21, 2023 - Sat, Sep 23, 2023 and I post this because a season can be a time of accomplishment in our lives.

For me I would like to spend the entire summer eating healthier and losing weight. Others may have different goals but we shouldn't waste this summer but rather it for a positive change.in our lives.

People occupy job titles In our lives (mother, brother, friend, spouse, doctor etc) where the assumption is they will be there for you when you need them. And so when they betray you it can be hard to take.

The Impulse is to get very angry because surely they will see how hurt you are and change their behavior. But sometimes the way they treat you is not an accident. And at that point you have to wish them well but distance yourself from them. You have to move on for your emotional health

He probably doesn't have a chance but if Chris Christie wins the GOP nomination in 2024 I will, breathe a sigh of relief. I may not agree with some of Christie's positions and would vote for Biden but a Christie vs Biden match up would mean Trump and DeSantis had been defeated and our democracy had been saved.

Watched The Verdict on TCM starring Sidney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre. They did about 8 or 9 films together in the 1940's. They were such great actors and I enjoyed the Verdict although I would have liked a happier ending.

Lindsay Graham furious today on George Stephanopoulos' ABC Sunday show raging about Trump being indicted.

Lindsay and other Trump supporters who understand how dangerous Putin is and believe in NATO are in for a shock if Trump is reelected They look at Trump's first term and they assume the second term will be the same. They don't grasp the fact that Trump was holding back in his first term because he knew he had to run again. But he will no longer need the voters in his second term.

@redenigma I think there is debate on that. Hee can't pardon himself on state charges but federal charges it would be untested waters. Might end up in the Supreme Court.

If we had a better system Trump who got fewer votes than Hillary in 2016 would never have been President. And now Trump can be indicted and if reelected pardon himself. We have a crazy system and it's leading to our destruction as a democracy.
