@nannyogg63 I do remember that story. So horrifying and tragic.
@babaohreally will start with Leviathan Wakes.
@babaohreally Foundation is a classic as well. Have you ever read Earth Abides by George Stewart. I read it about two years ago. Published in the 1940's and its a Sci fi classic and a fantastic book about a virus that kills off 95% of world population and how the survivors try from scratch to rebuild civilization.. Highly recommend

@babaohreally Unfortunately I am not that into Science Fiction but boy does this quote you shared from Tianata'sWrath sound good and very apt for today's times. I should give the book a try! #CoSoBooks
@DeterminedProtector He is very good too!
A Christmas Carol starring Alistair Sim as Scrooge or Its A Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey? Both are wonderful Holiday Movies and similar in that in both films an angel comes down to ask a man to look back on his life.
Of the two films I prefer A Christmas Carol because very few people lead lives as perfect as George Bailey. But Scrooge is a story of redemption and how it's never too late. It's an optimistic movie and Alistair Sim is magnificent as Scrooge.
I am liking it here at Counter Social. I like the people who are posting. They are interesting and polite. And sure I am tempted to check out the other twitter alternatives but I am not going to do that. I am sticking with Counter Social and what a relief to know that I have Counter Social as an alternative to twitter which I enjoyed in the past but the decisions being made over there are worrying.
@MrElias I feel that way too.What made twitter great under Jack is that he stayed in the background and so it was the twitter users who talked about whatever we wanted. Musk is now interfering with that by deciding what he wants us to talk about.
@kel Agee, I signed up for counter social maybe three weeks ago and I liked it but the whole Elon Musk thing brought me back to twitter clicking away and I have neglected counter social which is wrong of me because it's a much nicer atmosphere. So I am taking a break from twitter and when I click back in to twitter on Dec 10 It won't be the way it was before. I want counter social to be my main social media site.
Lisa Murkowski has won reelection to the US Senate. This matters not only because Trump will be furious 😃 But also along with Susan Collins and John McCain, Lisa Murkowski voted no to repealing the ACA back in 2017. Had any of these three Senators voted yes to repealing the ACA millions of Americans would have lost their health insurance. I will always be grateful and congratulations to Lisa Murkowski on her win!
@AuntCrabby I always enjoyed your posts on twitter and so glad to see that you are here on Counter Social!
@WellWellWell3 I share your feelings. I live in Florida and I do not want to be in this state but family and finances keep me here. I would so love to move back to NYC because it's my home and I always feel that whatever is happening in the country New York is kind of a sanctuary. There are other blue states like that as well.
@MrElias very good advise. I am unhappy with many of the changes being made at twitter and paid verification could be the deal breaker. What will that mean for people who don't pay? So I need to begin spending more time here at Counter Social which I am grateful for.
@Polterbyte I made sure I blocked him.
@MLClark Thanks and I am definitely glad I read Thomas Hardy because sometimes we read a classic and we are either bored or wonder what all the fuss is about. That wasn't true with The Mayor of Casterbridge. I could see why it's a work of art.
#cosobooks A few weeks ago I read Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge and I finished the novel awed by Hardy's talent. He is a brilliant writer. But I also can't recall when I last read a novel where the main character, Michael H, suffered so many misfortunes, humiliations and just bad luck. It can be an uncomfortable experience reading a novel where so much is taken away from a character in terms of second chances. Oh well but all of that said Hardy is a genius
@Jeaniesalad It is!
@EuroRedneck Thanks!

I live in Florida but will always love New York. I also love to read and will post about books, politics and whatever else catches my fancy.
