Today I watched a YouTube video by a young woman sharing her cancer diagnosis. She kept going to doctors insisting that something was wrong. Her doctors ran a few tests but not the right ones and told her not to worry but she wouldn't drop it. She knew something was wrong.
It's an inspiring video because I fear even routine checkups. But this woman had the courage to follow through even though it must have been scary and fortunately her cancer was caught at an early stage. It's inspiring.
@jsto Thanks for sharing this article and it is so terrible what happened to Becky. As patients we are told to trust the doctors and we should but not always and if something doesn't feel right in our bodies we must pursue it and get the rght answers.
@KathyV May I recommend a good near-future scifi novel grounded in science to you in relation to our convo? Theory of Bastards https://bookshop.org/a/55447/9781609454371
(feel free to ignore the cover because it does not rep the book well at all)
@jsto Thanks will check it out.
@KathyV This happened to Kate Beaton’s sister Becky and the profundity of it was captured in her comics over the years as well as here https://www.pressreader.com/canada/cape-breton-post/20180926/281492162242724 I can’t even read it again it disturbs me so much
If you haven’t read DUCKS yet I (and everyone) highly recommend it
