Right now Biden is campaigning against trump, the GOP AND the Democrat elites and is holding his own.
Imagine what the polls would look like if democrats supported the president instead of trying to replace him.
Biden is not holding his own. He has been campaigning since March, running against a candidate that was stuck in a courtroom and he is still unable to be on top in the polls. The voters don't want Biden. We need another candidate.
And its literally too late to change. Every red state will challenge a name change to someone who didn't go thru the primary. You really think the 5th circuit won't try to keep a replacement candidate from the ballot? How about SCOTUS? You trust them?
GOP has already said they will challenge in courts. Mail in ballots start in September so there are about 6-8 weeks to have it all decided.

It is not too late. The candidates are nominated by the conventions and not before. The ghost of legal challenges is not real,. If Biden steps aside and endorses another candidate before the convention, it should be a smooth and legally valid transition.
