There are 18 States with 209 electoral votes so when States with 61 more electoral votes join those States it then triggers and becomes effective for the presidential election, , this is possible, people should ask their representatives, it is allowed by the Article II Section 1.
@TrueBloodNet you might be right but I’m hopeful, there are 18 states in it already making a total of 209,the only thing people have to do is to call the senators and representatives to make them join the other states , the Constitution doesn’t change, actually it is already allowed.
@Jorro There has to be a state constitutional amendment. How that happens varies by state. Some states it has to be voted on by both state houses and signed by the Gov. Others it has to be voted on by the people. No red state house and senate has ever passed it. It's never made it to the ballot. They know they have more power without it. Why would they give that up?
@TrueBloodNet there are 18 states members of it already making a total of 209 electoral votes, it is not about giving up anything, it is actually giving power to the voter in every state, the way it works now the swing states decide everything, they basically make someone else’s vote useless.
@Jorro it is possible but not likely in our lifetimes. The same states that would block a constitutional amendment for the popular vote will not sign this. We haven't even gotten it passed in MI yet much less in any deep red states.
I mean, good luck to you but we can't rely on this. IMO
