Correction: Apparently I was just seeing news of a relatively mild aftershock. The quake was 6.1. This is just on the cusp of being dangerous, but usually the kind of quake that just causes everyone to crap their pants barring some weird accident.

I was in a 6.0 that felt like someone shoved down hard on the bumper of my car. A 7.9 i was in knocked me out of bed, broke the glass doors of my shower, toppled my TV and threw all the food out of m kitchen cabinets.
