I've improved my CoSo light-theme makeover to better handle the Settings pages and other things. There are still some minor issues and options I'd like to provide but can't do due to the site architecture.
This solution works only on desktop browsers (Firefox, Chrome, or Edge).
1) Download this JSON file: https://we.tl/t-K1LyQjrh5h (Click on the blue "Download" button on the left)
2) Install the Stylebot browser extention from https://stylebot.dev/.

3) Once the extention is installed, open the Stylebot options.
-- In Chrome and Firefox, there should be a Stylebot icon in the upper right of your browser - click on that and choose "Options" from the menu.
-- In Edge, there's an icon for extentions in the upper right, looks a bit like a jagged cookie with a bite taken out of it. Click on that, then click on the three dots next to Stylebot, and go to Stylebot -> Options...

4) From the basic options page, click on Sync in the menu on the left.
5) Under "Backup", click the "Import" button, locate the stylebot_counter_social.json file, and click 'Open'.
6) Go to Counter Social. It should load up with a white background with darker text.

Customization:
I added options near the top of the CSS code to hide the news ticker on the top of the page and/or the comms box on the lower left without going into full "ostrich mode".
There are also options to widen the Firehose, My friends, Notifications, or a hashtag column of your choice. (Thanks to @damianreloaded for the initial work on this.)

To try these options out, open Stylebot from the Stylebot extention menu in your browser, switch from "Basic" to "Code" mode using the buttons on the bottom of the Stylebot window, and uncomment the indicated lines for the features you want to enable.
