This is an old classic, but I think this version by Ndidi O is perhaps the best. So intense. youtube.com/watch?v=DCvaXHCEMf

@Bysodas The Settlers (Blue Byte, 1993), and this particular version is for the Amiga. :)

GOTO is the best command. I know it's got a bad reputation, but look how easily it handles this hog! I love GOTO.

@MaryOleeUpTheStream Honestly, I think it's just a matter of having more money than sense.

@EvilBunny If they say it didn't happen, it definitely happened.

From my Sharp MZ-80A owner's manual, which is full of these neat illustrations of various BASIC-commands (because of course you were expected to learn programming if you bought a computer).

A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to get to interview Junko Ozawa, who created music and sound effects for Namco back in the early arcade days (and up to 2005-ish). I think this was the first English-language interview with her.

You can read it here:

I uploaded these pictures to Atlas Obscura, they haven't been approved yet but I thought I'd share them here as well. It's the main gun at Kristiansand Kannonmuseum in Norway, built during WW2. atlasobscura.com/places/kristi

@hammam Oh, cool!

I have released a couple of "proper" games for the Sharp MZ series of computers, these are Minesnake and Numbertron which can be found on Itch.io:

joachim.itch.io/numbertron
sharpworks.itch.io/minesnake-f

I'm actually working on PC-versions of both.

I also made a silly little game for Windows called SharpSCII Invaders:

joachim.itch.io/sharpscii-inva

My greatest regret as a (sort of) game developer is that I never managed to finish my Sharp MZ-80A dungeon crawler. It kind of works, but there's too much left to do and too little RAM to do it in.

@hammam I believe the first one I played on an actual PC was Beast. Very simple game where the goal is to squish monsters before they catch you, but it's kind of fun even today.
