@Ironworker229 what is quick slaw, precious?
@Ironworker229 then what is long slaw? 😀
@Jezibaba The one with the creamy ginger sauce. It works better if it rests in the fridge for and hour or so.
@Ironworker229 I have never made it though I'd like to. Do you have a recipe for the longer version?
@Jezibaba Sho 'nuff!
Ginger Slaw
3 Tbs white wine vinegar (or cider vinegar)
1 Tbs soy sauce
1 Tsp Sesame oil (+ to taste)
2 Tbs sugar
1 Tsp minced garlic (+ to taste)
1 Tsp fresh minced ginger (+ to taste)
1 Tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 Tsp black pepper
1 Cup mayonnaise
Whisk in a bowl, season to taste and add to shredded green & red cabbage, carrots, turn to coat. Chill for 30 minutes + (an hour or two is better).
@Ironworker229 thank you!!
@Jezibaba Of course! It goes great with fish, too! Fish tacos, maybe?
@Ironworker229 I spent 20 years fermenting cabbage without salt. I love the stuff. Might just eat it from the jar. 😃
Fish tacos sound great. 😋
@Jezibaba Lol! I'm a bit of a late-comer to cabbage. It wasn't really used in our home when I was growing up, but I gained an appreciation when we visited Prague in '18. Since then, I try to always have cabbage on-hand.
@Ironworker229 it's incredibly versatile and outstandingly nutritious. Glad you made it, finally.
@Jezibaba I know! And the Cronch factor!
@Ironworker229 which means rich with enzymes!! Nom nom nom
@Jezibaba Green cabbage, carrots, vinegar, olive oil, salt & spices. Comes together in 10 minutes or so. I alternate between this and a creamy version with ginger that takes a bit longer.
