This is likely one of the largest solar radio events ever recorded. Radio communication interference with aircraft were reported by multiple NWS Center Weather Service Units (CWSU) co-located at FAA facilities.

@Jezibaba What are you missing with the northern lights for, enchantress>?

@Jezibaba Think it would work on Rudy? Could teach him to keep his mouth shut.

@MichaelTalon Rudy in a dog cage with a ball gag and a shock collar. OK. 😂

@Jezibaba I would feed him to one of the Ice Dragons but, they would not eat him. They have taste.😌

@MichaelTalon being devoured whole is too quick. Maybe we could make him a chew toy?

@MichaelTalon @Jezibaba

Thunor is my favorite because he's so indomitable. In the Fishing Trip tale, he pulls up Jormungdar the great world serpent, and it does not matter to him that he's fated to die by his poison at Ragnarok, or that he's in a tiny boat.

For Thunor it's "Target Acquired" there's the challenge, and he's going to go and beat it... literally and figuratively.

The only thing that stops him is his companion cutting the serpent free before Thunor can go for it.

Life goals!

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon He is also a God of Healing, of a sort, and the protector of the Common Man, the defender of Middle Earth.

A hammer was not a war weapon used by warriors during the time of the Germanic Faiths, which includes the Norse, it was a weapon normal folk would grab when under threat because they didn't have swords.

What's more there are inscriptions found all over "Thunor please battle the Jotun (Giant) of this illness)

He's got the big brother energy in spades.

@MichaelTalon @Jezibaba It should not be ignored that there were strict gender roles and stereotypes enforced in Norse and Germanic culture, but what is interesting is how often Gods were the exception to rules, and it seems certain people.

The Concept of a soul was actually a 5 part amalgam, and it was understood that one could be something different from their body, all while these strict standards were enforced.

It's something we don't fully understand how they balanced.

@MichaelTalon @Jezibaba This is where we get the Berserkers and what not, the idea that people could "change skins in the night" but only certain folks.

Thunor, to get his hammer back, dressed in drag, Loki is a whole ball of wax in his own right, Woden practiced Sedir, womens magic.

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon Good question, It's not something I've encountered, but there's so many versions out there.

The tales that we have, were mainly preserved by Christians a few hundred years after everything was gone, as well as folklore passed down. Our understanding is imperfect and you will find varying interpretations.

@NiveusLepus What a shame, it reminds me of the druids. The impermanence of things is a blessing and a curse.

@MichaelTalon

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon It's not an interpretation that everyone holds but I see Ragnarok in the Norse tales, as a cycle.

There's all kinds of hints in the narrative that death is impermanent, a comma not a period.

"And afterwards the Gods return to their valley and take up their golden game pieces again"

There's this idea of continuance after, life goes on, different, but there's still connection

I think that's where we are now, with modern heathens forging new ways to honor the Gods.

@NiveusLepus now you're speaking my language. That's why I flew 4000 miles to see Heilung in concert in October.

@MichaelTalon

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon The Legends we have, they were the stories made by a culture trying to understand the Gods with the limits of their understanding of the time.

But the Gods grow and change, have many dimensions just like any being does.

From my perspective, as a heathen and wide polytheist, it's a vast eternity out there full of beings, and all kinds of Gods known and unknown.

Nothing is static, the journey never ends, and now we're getting to know them again.

@NiveusLepus You mentioned Gaiman. This reminds me of American Gods.

@MichaelTalon

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon Oh Aye, he also wrote Norse Mythology which is his retelling of the legends. In the forward he mentioned them being a childhood inspiration to him.

@Jezibaba @MichaelTalon They are, and they are still here with us. We forge our destinies with each moment, and each choice. Some of us are destined to walk with them, others are destined to walk with others, or find new paths that we will never know.

To paraphrase Roddenberry. The Glory of creation is found in this infinite diversity. We are all on our way, we are all arriving, we are all in motion.

The journey, the frontier, never ends.

@MichaelTalon @Jezibaba Nah, I woke up midnight, I slept in. I'm off to run for a while.
