WASHINGTON — North Carolina Republicans appeared to have at least three of the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative justices on their side Wednesday in a case that could determine the future of elections nationwide, and leave decisions about federal elections in the hands of state legislatures and beyond the reach of state courts, Lynn Bonner of NC Policy Watch and Kira Lerner of States Newsroom report for the Alaska Beacon.

@Jezibaba It's a case of representatives appointing representatives....how many levels of delegation do we go down before the voters actually lose effectiveness and is that in the spirit of democracy? Reps appointing reps is already done aka Federal Regulations, whereby Congress "appoints" the executive branch to make regs that voters have to follow (Like Tax Codes). A much more dangerous one: SCOTUS is Reps (President & Senate) appointing judges...for life.
