This feels like a fitting time to remember that five police officers who had served at the Capitol on Jan. 6, died

This isn't anywhere near the most important point, but it's *fascinating* to me that neither Acting Secretary Miller nor Chairman Milley seemed to have raised any hackles about taking instructions from Vice President Pence — who's not *anywhere* in the chain of command...
"Donald Trump's conduct... was a supreme violation of his oath of office." Will recommend changes to laws and policies to guard against this happening again, and must because Trumpism hasn't gone away.
Kinzinger: "Laws mean nothing without public servants dedicated to the rule of law." People MUST demand character and truth from our lawmakers or lose our great experiment.
@Jezibaba please don't make fun of me but I have been trying to get myself back together so I've been away from the world for a while, but... Here goes
What's the end game with these? Can there be legal consequences from these hearings or are they just informative only? I hate how much information is out there but nothing happens from it all?
@Luzah I would never make fun of you. I hope that you are finding your way back. The end game with these hearings is to get the Republican base to understand exactly what happened on January 6th. Many of them are either completely unaware or believing the lies about the 2020 election. Consequences: I expect the doj to follow through after the hearings conclude. I don't think that asswaffle will go to prison. At the moment preventing him from a 2024 run is hopeful. I need more characters LOL
@Jezibaba You're a Saint and I can't thank you enough. I was hoping this would create some legal consequences for someone at least since the DOJ is apparently on vacation or something lol. Thank you so so so much, you're the best.
@Luzah you are most welcome. We are experiencing something never before seen in this country. I know that Congress is on vacation for August, that said doj and Garland are going to be methodical, meticulous, and patient. I'm not thinking that we're going to get the consequences we feel are deserved, but I would like to keep him away from a presidential run. I wouldn't mind seeing some of these complicit Congress people take a hit too.
@Luzah I can understand needing to step away. It it helps too when HCR gives us some of her editorial as well as her incredibly decent breakdown of what's going on at the hearings. Without the historians I think a lot of us would be more lost. I want to get through the hearings and then watch and see what the doj does I don't want the doj to jump the gun, which I know they won't Garland is not that type of prosecutor.
