Am disabled and need an affordable place to live in the USA that won't do this again to me. I'm not picky, just trying to stay alive and housed.
Any recommendations? Any state, city etc. I'm done with my area. Am working with an attorney to figure out my options but it's not looking good because the judge does not enforce tenants' rights.
Without going into details, am looking for a new place to move. Where I live, my landlord routinely gets aways with discrimination and retaliation.
HUD supplemented properties will not permit discrimination or retaliation. Look for properties governed by HUD.
@LnzyHou mine is, but the local judge rubber stamps evictions
I had a terrible experience at Mission hospital ER in Asheville NC. I filed a detailed complaint with NC AG Josh Stein (recently elected Governor).
About two months later, rec’d copy of AG letter sent to Mission, outlining complaint.
Although I haven’t heard further, I am happy my voice brought the hospital to account for shoddy treatment. Enough consumer complaints in any state should result in correction.
@LnzyHou thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry you went through that.
@LnzyHou right now I'm trying to keep my home but looking for another as a plan B. Reporting them to HUD won't help me keep my home but if they and / or the AG get enough reports they might investigate. I keep wondering what the owners and the property mgmt have to hide. they did this shortly after I started organizing know-your-rights workshops with a legal help group in the community room.
