So, the company I work for decided to say their policy is the only pay us for when we get to our first work site, we cannot start out our day from our home to drive to our site, even though we are in uniform and company vehicle.
From what I understand with researching the US department of Labor, it is compensable if the employees conducting work during the drive. The employee's uniform indicates working status.
I'm so tired of these companies trying to get away with wage left.
I understand that they figure the aggregate of doing this has a big payoff. Especially if they have about a thousand employees. With this new policy, and knocks off about half an hour to an hour a day. So let's say to make the math simple 1 hour a day for not paying their thousand employees. Let's give it an average of $18 an hour.
That's potentially $18,000 a day they are stealing from their employees.
@PoliTees After the covid lock down we were cut by half an hour a day so the shifts wouldn't overlap as a covid restriction. Two years later, masks are gone but we still haven't gotten that half hour back but are still required to produce the same number of parts. At this point that's $10/ day x 600 employees.
