OMG, you were brave! Sadly, I was actually just a tad too young (but only slightly1 lol) to comtemplate doing that.
Driving across the border back then they just asked how long you were staying. Coming back, Canada was only interested to know what you bought so they could collect the tax. Good times.

Closest drive in theatre for us was in NY State, we would drive to the US border tell em we were going to the drive-in. 3 or 4 weeks later from partying, travelling, and camping come back driving past the marque to see what played that night get to Canadian border we told them we were coming back from the movie and tell them what played
