My version of Shepherd's Pie for dinner tonight.
I was never one for Shepherd's Pie until I started making my own.
I loosely followed someone else's recipe.
The way I made it was with medium ground beef, boiled off and then browned with spices & chopped onions. Added approximately a cup of hickory barbecue sauce and allowed to simmer for 3-5 minutes before adding two cans of tomato soup and then let that all simmer while I mashed up the potatoes (potatoes were peeled and boiled).
When the meat sauce was set, I poured that into the glass casserole dish, topped with a layer of frozen peas...
Oh! Then I let that sit for 15 and then tossed it in the oven at 350° for half an hour
@Jax_Wild_4_Life ty! I have shied away for years but you inspire the jump.
TBH it was the 'old' cheddar that caught my eye😬
@damselfly59 yeah I grew up hating Shepherd's Pie... just loathed it. Was so gross to me. But when you play with some recipes you can come up with something super yummy!
@damselfly59 then mashed potatoes on top, sprinkled some old cheddar cheese on top of that.
