Him, at least two of his brothers, at least one brother-in-law that I know of, and his nephew (whom he grew up with like a brother), all fought in WWII.
He came home a changed man, back to his love, family and with most of his friends, to meet a 4 year old daughter that was born while he was deployed. A frontline gunner.
My aunt is about 76 or approaching 77 now. Really puts things in perspective for me; and to think if he were alive to see all the hatred in the world today...
If he were still with us today, he'd be turning 100 in February, 2022.
