I need to learn Spanish. I’ve learned some French, some German, some Japanese, some Lakota and Thai and ASL but the language that would be most helpful is Spanish.
@Museek I learned Castilian Spanish, so while I can converse in the US, I still want to pronounce 'c' and 'z' as 'th', for example.
I ❤️ that you've learned bits of others & always think it's important & respectful. I studied French, Spanish & Japanese but can do basics in German, Dutch, Italian & greetings, etc in Turkish & Sign Language (also different to ASL). I used to make a point of learning some phrases when I'd go abroad & often got preferential treatment for my efforts 👍
@BillyBones @Museek I was just talking about Castilian Spanish yesterday and how crazy it is that they still pronounce words with the “th” lisp sound - which apparently is just rumor that it was done to sound like Ferninand III or Peter the Cruel! I always loved that as a background to the sound!

I studied both Spanish & French in school in England right through from 11 - 18yo and no-one ever told me that bit!! I've just always assumed that that's how it was and that Americans/the Latinx Community did it the easy way instead! 🙀
Have you ever seen Yellowbeard? I'm going to hear Cheech & Chong's lispy (lithpy?) Spanish accents with, well fresh ears now 😆
