When your elderly relative conflates a white supremicist threatening a Black woman with a firearm and destroying her property with people defacing a crisis pregnancy center.
I can't change her perspective. I know that. I'm here to help her because she can't live entirely alone. But there are days I want to weep. 😭
This is the same person who is one of the kindest, most compassionate people you'll ever meet. To everyone.
@TheresaVermont I'm a caregiver. She really doesn't get it when she's being hateful. And if it gets intense she has full-blown panic attacks. I just look her like she has two head and eventually she wanders off.
@J_Windrow I had a close elderly family member. When she made comments, before she could even finish, I'd say "Let's not go there. If you want my help, this has to stop." I walked out a couple times. She learned not to take it up with me.
